We recognize that safety starts with a commitment at the top levels of the organization. Our board of directors is committed to reviewing our safety performance and safety initiatives on a continual basis. This is done to hold all levels of management accountable to health and safety.

TRAINING

Belterra has established mandatory training requirements for all staff regardless if they are in the field or the office. We constantly seek ways to enhance and reinforce training through a combination of field training, classroom courses, on-line learning, and video content. Staff training levels are regularly monitored and maintained through refresher courses.

Our Health & Safety program is led by a team of qualified National Safety Officers across the company. We have safety professionals at the corporate, regional and branch level.

We recognize that strong business systems lead to a safer work environment, so we ensure all our locations meet ISO 9001:2015 standards.

HAZARD MANAGEMENT

A complete assessment of all work hazards is executed to ensure our employees evaluate and control them in a safe manner, protecting both themselves and the environment.

EMPLOYEE HEALTH

We provide physical and mental health care for our employees through a comprehensive benefits and EAP program. The EAP program delivers crucial resources to our employees and their families across Canada.

LEARNING FROM INCIDENTS

At Belterra, we are committed to working safer by learning from past incidents. We conduct a complete investigation of any workplace incident or near miss, then share our findings company-wide to take appropriate corrective actions and reduce future incidents. The mandate to inspect near misses is vitally important to improving our prevention strategies.

CERTIFICATE OF RECOGNITION (COR)

We conduct both internal and external audits to ensure we achieve or exceed the COR standards.
